My name is Lloyd Edgar, and I'm a documentary filmmaker and videographer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I direct, shoot and edit broadcast documentaries for BBC One, Channel 4, Channel 5, RTÉ and TG4. I’ve worked with leading production companies including Fine Point Films, Ronin Films, CleanSlate, Triplevision, High Rock Media and Afro-Mic.
My most recent directorial credit is Principal Ballerina (BBC One, 2026), a documentary following Royal Ballet Principal Dancer Melissa Hamilton. It builds on Love Nature, a short-film series I directed for Channel 5, and my directorial debut Chasing Gold (BBC One, 2023), about Olympic gymnast Rhys McClenaghan.
Alongside directing my own projects, I'm a multi-disciplinary filmmaker for hire across Northern Ireland, Ireland and the UK. I'm regularly booked as an editor, camera operator, drone pilot and motion graphics designer on television and commercial productions. I’m a versatile, broadcast-experienced pair of hands on any production.

Principal Ballerina (2026)
Directed by Lloyd Edgar, Principal Ballerina follows Melissa Hamilton as she embraces her new title of Principal Dancer of the most esteemed dance company in the world — The Royal Ballet.
Commissioned by the BBC for inclusion in its 'Our Lives' strand and produced by Ronin Films, the film is broadcast on BBC One on 23 February 2026, with filming taking place at The Royal Opera House in London and Hamilton's home in Northern Ireland.
Love Nature (2026)
Love Nature is a short-film series I directed for Channel 5, sharing uplifting three-minute stories of people across the UK protecting and restoring the natural world.
Produced with High Rock Media, the series is told through authentic local voices and grassroots campaigns — offering a daily moment of hope, connection and inspiration for a more sustainable future.
The stakes have never been higher for elite gymnast Rhys McClenaghan as he prepares for three major competitions that could make or break his career — but can he bring home gold?
My directorial debut, Chasing Gold was commissioned by the BBC for inclusion in its 'Our Lives' strand and produced by Ronin Films.

When I'm not directing documentaries for the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5, I'm working with brands and agencies delivering broadcast-quality video production.
I shoot, light, record sound, fly the drone, edit, grade and deliver — a full production from one person, for clients including Henderson, NIE, Northern Ireland Screen, Stena Line and Bauer Media, often through agencies like Genesis. Named Best Creative Business at the Ards Peninsula Business Awards 2026.
